Tracking my 50-Million Pound Challenge Progress
I have to admit that I’ve often laughed when reflecting on my current approach to rekindling what has sometimes been a fading passion for a sport and lifestyle I can’t seem to live without–long distance running. Lately, I’ve felt kind of funny because even though I see myself as a professional middle and long distance runner, I’m currently out of shape (about 10-13 lbs out of shape) and in dire need of some motivation and inspiration to get back into racing shape; and ultimately, to continue my pursuit of the Olympics. By coupling my passion for wanting to help others and to inspire others with my desire to be more than a good runner I found a new path with the 50 Million Pound Challenge. By participating with others in their efforts to change their lives I have found great inspiration. I’m inspired by the many stories I’ve read about those who are taking part in this challenge. Their strength has become a great source of strength for me and I want to return the favor by taking part in this journey with the hundreds of thousands taking on this challenge.
Everyday I find myself spending a little bit of time writing in my weight-loss journal about trying to get back into race shape by participating in this very important nationwide weight-loss program. I find my participation kind of unorthodox, yet I can’t help but feel good knowing that I’m taking part in an initiative that can inspire anyone to become a healthier version of themselves!
So far I’ve been training 5-6 days a week for about 60 minutes to 90 minutes a day. The amount of training that I’m doing everyday isn’t a lot in terms of what I’m use to doing, but by taking on small workouts everyday my desire to keep going continues to grow without interruption.
With the forward momentum created by joining the 50-MPC I realize that it takes a lot of effort to find what will work for us when we want to overcome life’s challenges. I’m learning that solutions come in all shapes and sizes; and that we really do need to take it one step at a time when it comes to finding our way in life. My personal goal is to embrace the changes that I want to last my entire life because I’ve found:
No good thing that happens over night ever lasts a life time.
